Recovery, Heart Edition

Hi All,

Just wanted to let you know that I am home and feeling good. They confirmed this morning that the device is still in place and not showing any leaking at all, which is awesome. In other awesome news, my hole turned out to be 3 cm large. Quite impressive. Considering that I've had a giant hole in my heart holding me down all these years, awesome superpowers must be imminent.

None yet, unfortunately. I'm pretty exhausted from my night in the hospital, where apparently more than 15 minutes of sleep is not in the healing plan. I mean, I guess it's important to check my blood pressure every 15 minutes for 24 hours after you have a heart procedure, but my vote was for sleep. Shall I list my other grievances, or should it suffice if I told you I now know how to use a bed pan? [Shudders.]

So, Plavix and no exercise for a month and I can move on to other fun adventures, like chemo. Sigh. But we're happy with the good news and going to celebrate with a nap.

Thanks again for your support and prayers. Much love!

  6. Yayyyy! I'm so happy to hear it :) You guys are amazing, and my thoughts and prayers are with you. Nance, I foresee you and your bionic heart kicking some serious ass in sporty games in the future. I think it's important that Sean start training now if he has any aspirations of looking cool in front of the kids--esp. with your mom's prediction of boys! :p (I'm with the doctors--you're going to be a Fertile Myrtle). xoxo

  7. Did you know that when I was 9 and had spine surgery, the only time I cried was when I had to use the bedpan. I really know how wrong that is. Wonderful to see you over the weekend. Hope we didn't wear you out too badly! Hugs.
